Book Review: Wise & Otherwise – A Salute to Life, In The Real Sense!

Wise & Otherwise – A Salute to Life by Sudha Murthy is a book that you’d always want to keep by your side all through your journey in life. The title of the book is so apt that each story will make you think wise and otherwise. Mrs. Murthy, as simple as she is, her stories are from her experiences while working for Infosys Foundation. Sudha Murthy

Mrs. Murthy is a very humble person and is respected for the person she is and the work she does. Her stories in the book are about 3 – 4 pages each, mind you there are 50 odd stories, which are different from each other. They present a moral or message that you will easily relate to. The stories will never bore you nor will they seem too philosophical or like a value education lesson.

There are stories that you will remember for the rest of your life and there are stories that you may have seen, faced or been through yourselves. Wise & Otherwise is a book that will give the flip side of the coin in different situations of life. She, very simply puts forth incidences that will move you and will make you stop and wonder of how varied can people in the world be.

The book is simplistic yet striking, heart warming yet dark, thought provoking yet real! Pick the book and allow each story to seep in, feel free to read one story a week or a day. It is indeed a book, even if you don’t want to, will teach you a thing or two. Its a great read for kids too :), the language is that simple but powerful!
