Have you ever come across a ‘Rangeela’ in your life? Well, they don’t make them anymore. So if you want to see one ‘Besharam’ is the movie for you!
Highly colourful, loud and completely over the top with Delhi at its backdrop, this is complete masala movie. A comedy-action movie which will take you through a whirlwind of senseless situations that Ranbir Kapoor and others find themselves in.
The strong star cast do very little for the movie. Rishi Kapoor and wife Neetu Kapoor have proven why they are known for their work. Ranbir is at ease as always but his love interest Pallavi Sharda seems like a mismatch in the pairing. She plays her part as a ‘typical’ Delhi girl with grace. She is appropriately loud in her clothing and her actions. Whereas, Javed Jafferi who plays the role of the villain is a waste of talent in the plot.
Abhinav Kashyap, with this movie has proven a point that he is here only to make masala, mass movies. Movies that are filled with loud colors, dhinchak music and regional language slangs. He also gives his lead Actors the centre stage. Although in Dabangg it seemed that Salman got a lot of scope for spontaneity but here Ranbir chose not to take that route, instead, he followed what he was asked to do. Being a Director’s Actor, this experiment for Ranbir has not worked out in his favour.
Ranbir though completely ‘Besharam’ has a softer side to himself in the movie. We think that the movie could have a little styling (not in terms of fashion) and also a lot of attitude in the lead character ‘Babli’ (played by Ranbir). The romance fades away in the story which could have been handled very well. The movie has a lot of scope for ‘aww’ moments which the director has missed on.
The music by Lalit Pandit is average but fits the movie well. What we mean is that you may not walk out of the theatre humming a song or a tune from the movie, but while you watch the movie you will enjoy the song and dance.
All in all, the movie is more like a 80’s movie made in the 21st century! So we suggest you watch this movie only if you want to watch something time-pass, if you are a Ranbir Kapoor fan, if want to find out how hot Pallavi Sharda is, she is an ‘item’ 😉 (beauty as they address in the movie), if you want to see Ranbir almost naked (bathing) and his ass crack, if you have nothing to do and if you have to watch a movie, any movie!
